After Complete or Partial Denture Delivery Care Instructions

  • Getting Used to Your Dentures
It may take time to adjust to wearing your new dentures. You may feel some discomfort or pressure initially, but this is normal. If you experience persistent pain or discomfort, contact our office for an adjustment.
  • Wearing Schedule
Wear your dentures as directed by your dentist. Initially, you may be advised to wear them for shorter periods to get accustomed to the fit and feel. Gradually increase the duration until you can wear them comfortably throughout the day.
  • Cleaning Your Dentures
Clean your dentures daily to remove food particles and plaque. Use a soft-bristle brush specifically designed for dentures and mild soap or denture cleaner. Avoid using regular toothpaste, as it can be abrasive. Rinse thoroughly before placing them back in your mouth.
  • Storing Your Dentures
When not in use, store your dentures in a container filled with water or a denture soaking solution to prevent them from drying out and losing shape. Ensure they are kept out of reach of pets.
  • Eating with Dentures
When you first start eating with your dentures, stick to soft foods cut into small pieces. Chew slowly and evenly on both sides of your mouth to avoid putting too much pressure on any one side. Avoid sticky or hard foods until you feel comfortable with your dentures.
  • Adjusting to Speech
You may experience difficulty speaking clearly at first. Practice speaking in front of a mirror or reading aloud to help improve your speech. This should improve as you become accustomed to your dentures.
  • Regular Dental Check-Ups
Continue to schedule regular dental appointments for check-ups and adjustments. Your mouth and jaw can change over time, which may require modifications to your dentures for optimal fit and comfort.
  • Follow-Up Care
If you experience sore spots, difficulty chewing, or any other issues, please contact our office for evaluation and possible adjustments.
