After Composite Fillings Care Instructions
- Numbness
Your lips, tongue, and cheeks may be numb for a few hours following your appointment. Be careful not to bite your lips or tongue while numb, as this can cause injury. - Sensitivity
It is normal to experience some sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure after receiving composite fillings. This may last for a few days to a week. Using desensitizing toothpaste can help alleviate sensitivity. - Bite Adjustment
If your bite feels uneven once the numbness wears off, please contact our office for an adjustment. An uneven bite can cause discomfort and should be corrected promptly. - Diet
You can eat after the numbness wears off, but avoid sticky, hard, or chewy foods for the first 24 hours to protect the new fillings. Be cautious when chewing until you are comfortable with the feel of your new restorations. - Oral Hygiene
Continue your regular brushing and flossing routine, paying special attention to the filled areas. Good oral hygiene is essential for the longevity of your fillings and overall dental health. - Follow-Up
If you experience prolonged sensitivity, discomfort, or any issues with your fillings, please contact us at Pearly Smiles Dental, 630-454-7655. Regular dental checkups will help monitor the health of your fillings and overall oral health.
