After Orthodontic Clear Aligners

  • Wearing Your Aligners
Wear your aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing. Consistency is key to effective treatment.
  • Handling Your Aligners
Always use clean hands when handling your aligners. Remove them carefully by lifting them from the back of your teeth to avoid damage.
  • Cleaning Your Aligners
Clean your aligners daily using a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as it can warp the aligners. You can also use special cleaning tablets designed for aligners. Avoid using toothpaste as it may scratch the aligners.
  • Oral Hygiene
Brush and floss after every meal before putting your aligners back in to avoid trapping food particles and bacteria, which can lead to decay or gum problems.
  • Comfort and Adjustment
It’s normal to feel some discomfort or pressure when you start a new set of aligners. This is a sign that the aligners are moving your teeth. The discomfort should subside within a few days. If pain persists or if the aligners feel sharp or uncomfortable, contact our office for an adjustment.
  • Eating and Drinking
Remove your aligners while eating or drinking anything other than water to avoid damaging or staining them. Do not chew gum while wearing aligners.
  • Storing Your Aligners
Always store your aligners in their protective case when not in use to prevent loss or damage. Keep them away from pets, as they tend to chew on aligners.
  • Follow-Up Appointments
Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. Bring your aligners to each visit.
